RTA Invests Millions in Bur Dubai Road and Drainage Upgrades

The Roads and Transport Authority has completed all phases of the Al Shindagha Corridor Development Project in Bur Dubai. This work ensures traffic flow from Al Garhoud Bridge to Port Rashid via the Infinity Bridge.

Al Shindagha Corridor and New Bridge Figures

The project forms part of ongoing efforts to improve links in the Bur Dubai area. A new bridge over Dubai Creek sits between the Infinity Bridge and the Port Rashid Development area. Separate from the corridor completion, a 1,425-metre bridge connecting the Bur Dubai side to Dubai Islands remains under construction at a cost of AED 786 million. These elements target better access to island districts while maintaining flow along established routes.

Tasreef and Main Roads Plan Statistics

Dubai approved the AED 30bn Tasreef project to raise the emirate's rainwater drainage capacity by 700 percent. The initiative covers all areas including Bur Dubai. In parallel, the AED 16bn Main Roads Development Plan running from 2024 to 2027 encompasses 22 road network projects across Dubai. These plans focus on quality of life and sustainable transport options.

The figures reflect the scope of current infrastructure activity. Completion of the Al Shindagha phases marks a milestone in local connectivity, while the new bridge construction and drainage upgrades add further layers of investment. The Main Roads Development Plan sets a multi-year framework with its 22 projects and overall AED 16bn allocation.
