Bur Dubai Transport Data Shows Travel Time and Capacity Shifts

Project Statistics on Corridor Completion
Completion of the corridor links Al Garhoud Bridge to Port Rashid through the Infinity Bridge and Waterfront Market. A separate 1,425-metre bridge under construction by Dubai Municipality and RTA will connect Bur Dubai to Dubai Islands at a cost of AED 786 million and will carry four lanes in each direction.
Peak Congestion Timing and Public Transport Figures
Traffic congestion in Bur Dubai reaches its highest levels on weekdays between 7am and 9am and again between 5pm and 7pm, with additional crowding on Friday afternoons near shopping areas. The Dubai Metro Red Line runs trains every two to three minutes during peak hours and serves Bur Dubai directly. Traditional abras cross Dubai Creek in less than 10 minutes at a cost of Dhs1 to Dhs2. All services require a Nol smart card with fares between AED 3 and AED 8.50 according to zones travelled. Bus operations run from 4am to 1am daily.
Broader Infrastructure Numbers
Dubai is executing 72 major infrastructure projects that include 226 km of roads, 115 bridges and 11 key corridors scheduled for completion by the end of 2027. The AED 20.5 billion Dubai Metro Blue Line covers 30 km with 14 stations and began main tunnelling in May 2026. The AED 30 billion Tasreef project, approved in June 2024, aims to raise rainwater drainage capacity by 700 percent across the emirate including Bur Dubai.
