The Executive Committee of the Initiatives of the President of the UAE also approved nine new dams plus expansions to two existing ones, along with embankment barriers that add up to 8 million cubic metres of water storage. In Abu Dhabi the Projects and Infrastructure Centre received approval for 144 projects worth around AED66 billion, covering housing, education, tourism and natural resources. Dubai saw the announcement of a new passenger terminal at Al Maktoum International Airport budgeted at AED128 billion, designed for 260 million passengers and 12 million tonnes of cargo each year. The Tasreef rainwater drainage scheme was allocated AED30 billion to raise network capacity by 700 percent. A 1,000-metre bridge linking Hessa Street to Al Khail Street cut travel times from 15 minutes to three minutes for many users.
