Deira Residents Demand Action as Rush-Hour Traffic Gridlock Worsens Daily

Deira faces heavy traffic congestion during evening rush hours, particularly around Dubai Creek crossings, Al Ghurair Centre, the Clocktower, and Al Rigga, due to overlapping commuters and shoppers.

Connections Across the Creek

The area is connected to Bur Dubai by five crossings including Al Maktoum Bridge, Floating Bridge, Al Garhoud Bridge, Business Bay Crossing, and Al Shindagha Tunnel, along with two Dubai Metro lines, the Red and Green. Recent Infrastructure Work

RTA recently inaugurated a new 1,210-metre bridge with three lanes to enhance traffic flow between Deira and Bur Dubai as part of the Al Shindagha Corridor Improvement Project. The same project aims to reduce travel time between Deira and Bur Dubai from 104 minutes to 16 minutes by 2030 while enhancing road capacity by 3,000 vehicles per hour upon completion.
