Compared to districts such as Deira, which continue with hybrid systems, Bur Dubai applicants now use a single online platform linked to the municipality's database.
Examples include small business owners in the Al Seef area who previously queued for document verification. Under the new rules, they upload scanned records and receive status updates via mobile notification within 48 hours of submission.
Budget and Projections
The 2026 Bur Dubai Municipal Budget Paper allocates 52 million dirhams specifically for the policy's IT upgrades and staff training. Official records indicate this investment covers integration with federal e-services portals.
Policy analysts say processing times for resident permits could drop from an average of 12 days to four days once fully operational. The government says the policy will extend to renewal applications by January 2027. Workshops at the Bur Dubai Community Hall begin on 15 July to guide residents through the portal.
