Deira Approves Services Overhaul: New Waste Collections Start March 2027

Service Changes and Household Timelines
Central Deira neighbourhoods will move to twice-weekly waste collection on 1 March 2027. Al Murar and surrounding zones receive the same schedule on 1 June 2027. The amendment lists 12 million dirhams for new collection vehicles drawn from the 2026-2027 budget paper. Residents will receive mailed notices in December 2026 that detail their new collection day and any required bin changes.
Community centres in Al Rigga, Naif and Hor Al Anz will add two weekday evening hours from 1 September 2027. The extension covers after-school programmes and adult education classes already listed in current centre timetables. The legislation states that any further expansion of these hours requires a separate council vote.
Budget Allocation and Next Steps
The attached budget schedule allocates 28 million dirhams for equipment and staffing in the first implementation phase. The government says the entire programme will reach full operation by December 2028.
