Deira Housing Policy Updates Focus on Infrastructure and Regulatory Frameworks

Deira is currently the focus of significant housing policy shifts as part of the broader Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan. The government has identified the district as a central location for sustainable and affordable development, aimed at supporting the high demand within the city's historic core areas. These policy updates include legislative changes to tenancy documentation and the rollout of major residential projects designed to serve the local population.

A primary development in the district is One Deira, a key component of the Deira Enrichment Project. This development serves as the area's largest on-land project, contributing 2,200 rental apartments to the local housing market. Located near the Creek and the Gold Souq, the project is intended to increase the availability of residential units for those seeking accommodation in this historic part of the city.

Regulatory Changes and Citizen Support

The regulatory environment for housing has also seen recent adjustments to increase oversight and flexibility. Under Law No. (4) of 2026, all tenancy contracts for shared accommodation must now be officially recorded in a dedicated government registry.
