Dubai Marina Raises Resident Parking Permit Fees to 2,500 Dirhams

At its regular session on 7 July the Dubai Marina City Council passed the Resident Parking Permit Policy Update by a 7-2 vote, establishing a mandatory annual permit system for all vehicles registered to addresses within the district boundaries.
The measure responds to documented growth in on-street parking demand after the completion of three new residential towers along Al Marsa Street in 2025, according to the council's transport committee report.
Permit Requirements and Revenue Allocation
Under the ordinance each household may register up to two vehicles at the flat rate of 2,500 dirhams per year, with an additional 1,200 dirhams charged for any third vehicle; visitor passes will be limited to four hours and cost 15 dirhams each. The legislation states that the projected 18 million dirhams collected in the first year will be transferred directly to the Roads and Transport Authority for expanded evening bus services along Sheikh Zayed Road between Marina Mall and Jumeirah Beach Residence.
Residents who commute by car to offices in Business Bay or Dubai Media City will now budget an extra 208 dirhams per month for the permit, while households that previously relied on free street parking near the marina promenade will face the same charge regardless of building type.
Next Steps for Implementation
Applications open on 1 August through the Dubai Marina municipal portal, with physical permits required on windscreens from 1 September; enforcement will begin with warnings in the first month followed by 200-dirham fines thereafter. The council has scheduled a public information session at the Marina Community Centre on 22 July to explain the online registration process and exemption criteria for electric-vehicle owners.
