Al Wasl Club Expands Stadium as Dubai Boosts Sports Infrastructure

Al Wasl Club stands at the centre of current sports facility developments in Dubai as its stadium undergoes capacity expansion to 25,000 seats. The project will create the first air-conditioned sports venue in the UAE following orders from Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan.

Al Wasl Stadium Upgrade

The new 60,000-seat facility is designed as the world’s first fully air-conditioned stadium and carries an estimated cost of AED 3 billion. It forms one element of a nine-point sports revolution plan intended to increase overall capacity across the city.

Additional Venues Opening

Dubai Sports World at Za’abeel Halls remains available through September 21, 2026, with 42 courts across 20,000 square metres, a free gym and a 1 km indoor track located at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The Emirates Sports Arena, a 10,000-square-metre facility with 600 spectator seats, is scheduled to open in September 2026 in Dubai Sports City for ice hockey and figure skating. JA Sports & Shooting Club in Jebel Ali, an AED 300 million complex with football, cricket and shooting facilities, will open in phases from the end of summer 2026.

These projects collectively increase the range of indoor and conditioned training and competition spaces available to clubs and athletes.
