Deira Sports Clubs Launch Inclusive Programs, Strengthen Community Bonds
School teams and neighbourhood venues are drawing residents together with regular sessions and new facilities in the heart of the district.

Deira International School finished third in the Secondary Team Sports category at the 2025-26 MIDEA Dubai Schools Games, a competition that drew 195 schools and more than 14,654 student-athletes across 27 sports. School programs anchor year-round involvement
Deira International School fields A, B and C teams in more than 10 sports including football, rugby, basketball, netball, cricket, swimming and athletics, with more than 450 students taking part each year. Its facilities include two temperature-controlled swimming pools, three astroturf football pitches and two air-conditioned sports halls. Deira Private School similarly requires every student to join at least one sport, offering gymnastics, football, athletics, netball, basketball and cricket with teams that compete against other Dubai schools. These programs operate alongside Infinite Sports @Deira International School in Dubai Festival City, which opens badminton and basketball courts on weekday evenings from 6 PM to 11 PM and from 2 PM on weekends.
Neighbourhood venues keep residents connected
Weekly badminton sessions run from 8 PM to 10 PM at Sportsbay Abu Haill, while a social bowling meetup gathers players of all levels every Thursday at Glitch in Al Ghurair Mall near Union Metro Station. Dubai Sports Corporation oversees playing fields in Deira, Al Mamzar and Al Nahda that remain available for lease, and Dubai Municipality has added multi-purpose sports fields in Hor Al Anz, Al Satwa and Al Mankhool Park. City Centre Deira continues to host free Dubai Mallathon walks and runs of 2.5 km, 5 km or 10 km through the end of August. Sport Society, located next to Deira City Centre, is preparing a full-size NHL ice rink, one of the largest bowling centres in the UAE, cricket simulators and climbing walls to address the current shortage of indoor options where residents sometimes wait more than an hour during peak summer hours.
