Business Bay completed its city-wide private 10 Gbps broadband overlay on July 10, connecting every firm inside the Innovation Quay and Creek Tech Park districts to dedicated dark-fiber loops.
The rollout matters now because global supply chains for semiconductors and undersea cables face repeated disruptions from the Hormuz closure and typhoon damage in Asia. Local operators moved early to bypass shared public routes and secure direct peering at the Business Bay Carrier Hotel on Waterfront Boulevard.
Local infrastructure details
The new network runs through the Bayfront Exchange facility at 142 Al Abraj Street and the secondary node inside the old Creek Tower data hall. Both sites feed directly into the city's two licensed satellite gateways, cutting round-trip latency to under 8 milliseconds for AI training clusters. Companies already using the loops include three drone-software startups on Innovation Quay and a fintech accelerator based at Creek Tech Park.
Independent tests conducted last week showed sustained symmetric speeds of 9.4 Gbps during peak hours at a flat rate of $42 per month per connection. The same package includes automatic failover to the satellite path within 40 milliseconds, a feature not offered on standard commercial circuits elsewhere in the region.
Next steps for firms
Business Bay Economic Development Agency will open enrollment for the next 500 connections on July 20 at its offices on Sheikh Rashid Road. Companies can book a site survey through the portal at bayconnect.ae or by calling the dedicated line at 04-555-0192. Early sign-ups receive a one-time credit covering the $1,200 installation fee.
