Burj Park drew more than 180 dog owners and their pets for coordinated fitness sessions on the morning of July 7, with participants completing circuits of body-weight exercises while leashed dogs rested nearby.
The trend has accelerated this summer as Downtown Dubai residents seek shaded outdoor routines before temperatures climb past 40 degrees Celsius. Local wellness groups report rising attendance at parks that allow dogs, filling a gap left by indoor gyms that often ban pets. The shift aligns with the city’s broader push for community-based activity rather than solitary treadmill sessions.
Two sites leading the change
Burj Park, located directly beside the Dubai Fountain, added designated dog zones last year that include water stations and shaded benches. Trainers from the Downtown Wellness Collective now run 45-minute HIIT classes there three mornings a week, charging 60 AED per session. A short walk south, the landscaped stretch known as Emaar Square Gardens near the Dubai Opera has installed agility posts and separate small-dog enclosures, allowing owners to alternate between jogging laps and supervised play.
Both locations sit within a 10-minute walk of the Dubai Mall metro station, making them reachable without cars for many residents in the Opera District and Business Bay towers.
Numbers behind the growth
Dubai Municipality data released in May 2026 recorded a 32 percent increase in registered dog tags for Downtown postcodes compared with the same month in 2024. Average class sizes at Burj Park have grown from 12 participants in early 2025 to 47 this July. Session fees remain lower than most private studios, which typically charge 120 AED or more for equivalent group training.

Those new to dog-inclusive workouts are advised to bring water for both themselves and their pets and to confirm current park rules with on-site security before starting any circuit.
