Jumeirah Schools Launch Meditation Programs to Boost Student Focus
Jumeirah schools have rolled out structured meditation sessions for students this year to address focus and stress levels.
How we reported this
Three schools along Al Sufouh Road and Jumeirah Beach Road introduced daily mindfulness blocks into timetables starting January 2026.
Academic workloads in Dubai have climbed steadily, with many families reporting children aged eight to fourteen showing signs of fatigue by mid-term. Local educators point to shorter attention spans and rising requests for counselling as reasons to embed simple breathing and body-scan exercises before classes begin. The approach mirrors steps already taken at international schools in London and Singapore but draws on trainers based in the UAE.
Named programs now running
Jumeirah English Speaking School operates the “Mindful Start” slot each morning at its campus on Al Sufouh Road. Ten-minute guided sessions led by two certified instructors reach all year groups from reception to year six. Nearby, Jumeirah College on Al Thanya Street runs the “Pause Practice” after lunch, where students use an app developed with a local wellness centre to log three-minute resets. Both schools opened the sessions to parents on Tuesday evenings at the same venues, charging AED 120 for a four-week block.
Staff at these sites completed a 12-hour certification course through Mindfulness UAE in late 2025. The course covered age-appropriate scripts and how to adapt practices for larger classrooms without extra equipment.
Numbers behind the rollout
A Dubai Health Authority review of 22 schools published in May 2026 recorded a 27 percent drop in reported anxiety scores among pupils who attended at least six weeks of guided mindfulness. Average class size for the Jumeirah sessions stands at 24 students. Schools pay AED 4,800 per term for the external instructors and materials.
Parents who want to explore options can contact the student-services offices at either campus before the next term begins in September. Families are advised to speak with a paediatrician or school counsellor before enrolling children with existing health conditions.
