How we reported this
Locals on Palm Jumeirah have quietly claimed two narrow trails that wind through the inner fronds, routes that stay off most visitor maps and hotel shuttle stops.
July heat pushes residents toward early starts on these paths rather than the open crescent beaches where tourists gather after 9am. The shift comes as Dubai records average highs above 40 degrees Celsius this month, prompting more people to seek tree cover and sea breeze routes that stay 3 to 4 degrees cooler than exposed sand.
Frond trails and resident loops
One stretch runs behind the Shoreline Beach Villas on Frond F, where a 1.8-kilometre gravel path passes through date palms planted in 2019 and ends at a small fitness station installed by the Palm Jumeirah Residents Association. Another route starts at the western end of the Golden Mile and follows a service road turned walkway that connects to the back entrance of Crescent Park, avoiding the main promenade entirely.
The Palm Jumeirah Residents Association launched its free guided walks on these routes in April 2025, drawing 180 participants on the first Saturday session and maintaining a waitlist since. Participants meet at 6:30am near the Frond F security gate, where volunteers mark the start with orange cones.
Usage numbers and access details
Dubai Municipality visitor counters installed last November show the Frond F path recorded 14,200 resident check-ins between January and May 2026, compared with 3,400 in the same period the year before. Parking at the nearest public lot on Al Marsa Street costs 15 dirhams for two hours, while the walks themselves remain free.
Residents recommend starting before sunrise, carrying at least one litre of water, and wearing light long sleeves. The Residents Association posts updated start times each week on its private app, and the next session is set for 13 July at the same Frond F gate.
